Playing a mix of classic jazz and original compositions that range from “a graceful ballad to something that sounds like a Captain Beefheart shakedown,” (BC Musician Magazine), the Jon Miller Quartet's live shows in support of their new CD are celebrated as must-see events on the Vancouver Island arts scene. The quartet will perform music from their 2015 release 3 Days in Winter, along with brand new compositions on their island tour. 3 Days in Winter charted at #1 at several west coast radio stations.
The Jon Miller Quartet is a premier Canadian jazz group from Victoria BC that has been making waves on the BC jazz scene in 2016 with captivating, and dynamic live performances. The top-rated quartet’s original compositions offer soulful depth and diversity. Engagingly melodic, harmonically rich, and by turns hard-hitting and lyrical, the quartet is led by powerhouse drummer/composer Jon Miller and features one of Canada's top female saxophonists, Monik Nordine, along with jazz guitar great Rob Cheramy. Joining the quartet on this tour for the first time will be JUNO award winning bassist Ken Lister.
With the excitement and the buzz surrounding the upcoming island tour, talented Victoria bandleader and drummer Jon Miller said, "I am very happy to be returning to the Central Island; we played a string of extremely well-received shows in the area earlier in 2016, so it will be great to catch up with friends we made last time and hopefully make some new ones along the way. Monik Nordine, Rob Cheramy and I have a unique and special chemistry together and we're really excited to hear it enhanced by Ken Lister's amazing bass playing.”
