Summer Sounds: Organ Quartet to play Parksville and Cumberland BC Aug 25-26
The Jon Miller Quartet tours Vancouver Island August 25th-26th 2017 with upcoming performance dates in Parksville and Cumberland BC. Island residents can catch a performance of the gifted Victoria jazz quartet in Parksville on August 25th at the McMillan Arts Centre 133 McMillan Street Parksville, BC (250)-248-8185 at 7:00 pm. Tickets $15 – $12 for OCAC members. (This concert is also part of the MAC's Summer Sounds Series offering 3 shows with 3 different groups in July and August for $42.) An 8:00 pm Saturday August 26th performance will take place at Studio Live in Cumberland at 2679 Beaufort Ave. (250) 400-5000. For these shows the drummer led quartet will be paying tribute to organ-jazz in the vein of giants of the genre Jimmie Smith, Brother Jack McDuff and Joey DeFrancesco, featuring Hammond B-3 organ marvel Tony Genge along with guitar great Rob Cheramy and saxophonist extraordinaire Monik Nordine. The Hammond B-3 edition of the Jon Miller Quartet (AKA the Parallel Universe Band) is hard hitting and soulful, with an emphasis on swing, groove and blues-inflected jazz.
